Many teacher are not fully equipped to teach ELL students, perhaps their school training did not prepare them for this rising epidemic. Requiring all students to be in the regular classroom is not only a suggestion; it is a law.

Researchers say attitudes are different between teachers depending on their certification or endorsement

A positive aspect that comes out of mainstreaming ELL students into the regular classroom is that if you submerge these students with there peers where this is only English being spoken. Quiet rapidly, ELL students will learn the language.

Important point in my paper

Initially an ELL student is a student that knows little or no English. A large number of the time ELL students are refugees fleeing from their native land with their families to peruse happiness in America. Even though, ELL students are in a much better situation, there are still many challenges they endure. Not only do ELL students not know English they also are not accustomed to the way Americans do things. Today, “the number of students who are English Language Learners (ELLs) continues to increase across the country, with the most impact in California,” says Zaida McCall-Perez an associate professor and director from Cross-Cultural Teacher Certification Programs. Furthermore, higher populated areas of the United States are going to a have a significantly higher number of ELL students. According, to the national clearinghouse for English language acquision ( c.d.a) ELL represent the fastest two segments of the school age population ( Hill and Flynn 2).

Work in Progress thesis

Numerous teachers are unaware of how to educate ELL students and help them survive in American schools, for smoother transitions for ELL students, teachers can be culturally in tune, be ready for the diversity rate in every school to go up, and adjust to their students needs.

My Topic

My brainstorming during the past week, on what topic I want t0 choose, has been all over the place as far as the education field goes. My major is ELED/SPED, so I have several options. My thoughts about my topic now are ELL students in the regular education classroom. This is a raisng topic in our schools as diversity gets stronger and stonger. I found a rather interesting article on it as well as very important. The article talks about effectiveness in the classroom. The article also list other resource similar to my topic.
